Rebecca and Chad recently took a cocktail class focused entirely around margaritas! Margaritas are a favorite of theirs anytime of year, but especially in the spring and summer months. Rebecca prefers a spicy marg, and as with any recipe preparation, the better quality your ingredients, the better the final result. Reach for the good stuff to make your home cocktails shine, just like the pros!

Ingredients
- 3 oz. tequila
- 2 oz. fresh lime juice
- 1 oz. orange liqueur
- 1 oz. agave (or simple syrup)
- 6-10 jalapeno slices
- Lots of ice to fill your shaker
- Salt, lime and jalapeno slices, for garnish
Instructions
- Take two rocks or double old fashioned glasses and salt the rim by running a wedge of lime along the glass rim then dipping the rim into a bowl of coarse salt
- Add tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, agave, jalapeno slices, and ice to your cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds
- Pour into your prepared glasses over cubed or crushed ice
- Garnish each glass with a slice of lime and jalapeno
Rebecca's Notes
- The biggest takeaway from the cocktail class was that I needed to add MORE ice to my shaker. If you don't add enough ice while shaking, it will melt and water down your drink before it even hits your glass. You can never have too much ice!
- Don't like it spicy? Simply omit the jalapenos.
- The BEST tool you have to use for this recipe is the Fluicer, for juicing the limes. Your hands will stay clean and dry, and you'll get the most juice out of those limes with this one!
- Be brave and use a Boston shaker! That way, the ice you use to shake your cocktail can go straight in your glass with your chilled drink. Rebecca always used a Cobbler shaker in the past because she was nervous to use a Boston shaker. After taking this class, though, she is loving the ease of the Boston shaker instead.
- Not sure what the difference is between a Boston and Cobbler shaker? Come into East Elm, we have both!
- Want to batch this up for a crowd? With margaritas, just remember the 3-2-1-1 ratio: 3 parts tequila, 2 parts lime juice, 1 part orange liqueur, 1 part agave (or simple syrup). Scale this up by mixing with a spoon in a pitcher, chill, then pour over ice-filled glasses. Salud!
